Questions & Answers

What is the HYCIE technique?

The HYCIE technique aims to focus on the client's needs and direct them towards an objective to work on, by accessing internally what is causing the difficulties and changing their perception of the situation.

It's a multi-technique created by Josée Bissonnette, N.D., founder of the Académie Hypnose d'HYCIE (Hypnosis, Consciousness, Intuition and Energy).

Her approach is based on acknowledging and becoming aware of the treasures hidden within ourselves.

She uses the best of the techniques she has learned and developed over the years during her career. She has adapted them to the needs of children and adults.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. It can be compared to dreaming, relaxation, meditation... In a way, we "dream" while remaining conscious.

This is because, in hypnosis, our attention is focused on a specific subject, unlike in normal life, where it is drawn to all kinds of stimuli at the same time. This is how, little by little, the hypnotized person forgets external reality and enters an internal reality, which he or she will experience as external (as if it were reality).

You've probably experienced it... Do you remember going for a walk?  You were so absorbed in your inner reality that you didn't notice the time passing by. You told yourself you were lost in your thoughts.  But in reality, it was a state of hypnosis.

We all experience this state of hypnosis.  For example, when we're "over the moon", when we're driving to our destination without realizing how far we've gone, or when we're doing our favorite activity or any other activity that catches our attention. We experience hypnotic states every day.

So, with hypnosis, we aim to intentionally recreate this state where we have access to the subconscious to make a positive change. During this state, the unconscious is more receptive to suggestions, to the activation of internal resources and to change.

Hypnosis can help with a wide range of problems. Hypnosis helps to alleviate, improve, lighten and so on. The improvement is significant enough to bring about a major change in the life of the person under hypnosis.

Can I lose control?

No. No one can force you to do something that goes against your values; hypnotists included.

If a person doesn't experience hypnosis in the way they want to, or develops a sufficient sense of unease, the hypnosis session won't be successful. And that's just as well!

Besides, we always "wake up", no matter what. Firstly, because we don't sleep! Secondly, if there's no suggestion, the hypnotic process dissipates on its own.

Am I "hypnotizable"?

Anyone can be hypnotized. The length of time will vary according to the individual.  The success of a hypnosis session depends to a large extent on the individual's apprehension. If apprehensions are strong, they will prevent the person from entering hypnosis. You have to be willing to be hypnotized.

The really variable element is the time needed to reach this state of hypnosis. It will take less time for people who are more inclined to let go and who readily accept being guided. The patient must be involved and motivated. They must be willing to be hypnotized, to let go and to concentrate.

Has it been scientifically proven?

According to an article by Laurence Messier published on the PasseportSanté website on January 26, 2022 (https://bit.ly/3KbJ43W), numerous studies, many of them recent, have evaluated the applications of hypnosis in medicine. She mentions several references.
